The brief
Clearcoat is a concept auto detail shop I created to show a bolder, darker side of web design. It's a one-bay, indoor shop on Geneva Road in Orem, run by an owner who works on every car himself.
Its customers are people who love their cars, so the site needed to feel as polished as a freshly coated hood, answer “what does it cost?” right away, and make booking a drop-off day take about two minutes.
Key decisions
-
Showroom black, one orange accent
Near-black and steel gray with a single signal orange saved for the Book button and key highlights, so the next step is always obvious. Wide, heavy headlines give it an automotive feel without the clichés.
-
The shop light sweep
A slow band of light glides across the paint in the main photo, like the inspection light the owner uses to check a car. It ties the look to the shop’s biggest promise, and it switches off for visitors who prefer less motion.
-
Prices up front, told honestly
Every service shows a starting price and how long the car will be in the shop. The ceramic coating section even lists what a coating won’t do, which builds more trust than hype.
-
Booking that fits detailing
Instead of a rigid calendar, a short form collects the service, the vehicle, and a drop-off day, and the owner texts back to confirm. A “Not sure which one?” helper points undecided visitors to the right service.
